QI Toolkit: Track PA outcomes and time to medication access

Use GreenlightPA to support a simple Quality Improvement project. Track cases with and without the app, measure approval rates and time-to-treatment, and optionally share de-identified results to help improve the tools.

No PHI rule

Do not enter names, MRNs, DOBs, phone numbers, addresses, or other identifiers. Use a private local_patient_key (e.g., PN-014) that only you can map locally.

Suggested sample sizes

  • Pilot: 10 with app + 10 without
  • Standard: 20 with + 20 without
  • Strong: 30 with + 30 without

Tip: for clean results, choose one primary drug + indication + insurer for your main analysis.

How it works

  1. Download the CSV template (or use your own spreadsheet with the same headers).
  2. Track consecutive cases: some with the app and some without.
  3. Update the row when you learn: insurer decision, and when the patient actually received medication.
  4. Summarize results (approval rate, % received within 30 days, median days to decision/receipt).

Optional: Share de-identified results

If you’d like, you can email your completed CSV for aggregation and shared learning. By sending your file, you confirm it contains no protected health information (PHI) and you grant permission for GreenlightPA to use your de-identified, aggregate results for educational examples, summaries, and improvement of the tools.

Sending your file indicates agreement with the above statements.

Before sending, please confirm:

  • No names, MRNs, DOBs, addresses, phone numbers, or other identifiers.
  • local_patient_key is a private code only you can map locally.
  • You understand your data may be combined with other de-identified submissions and displayed in aggregate form for educational and quality improvement purposes.
